The Chinese lunar calendar came to a close by the end of January as we ushered out the Year of the Monkey. This brought with it the Spring Festival - more commonly known as the Chinese New Year. On 28 January 2017, the Year of the Monkey became the Year of the Rooster, bringing with it lots of celebrations.
About
50 members of the Shuntak Association, Taiping, participated in a lunch gathering which was held at the Shuntak Association premises on 30 January 2017, to celebrate Chinese New Year and welcome the Year of the Rooster.
Apart from the buffet lunch, there were lion dances, Choy San, ang pows and awards for deserving children who excelled in their studies and awards too, for committee members who served the association well.
However, most importantly, the celebration was about the gathering of families and friends sharing traditions together.
